ESSR - 37th Congress of the European Society for Surgical Reasearch

WELCOME

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the board of the European Society for Surgical Research it is our honor and pleasure to invite you to Szeged to attend the 37th Congress of the ESSR, on
May 23-25, 2002. Based on the traditions of our Society, we are sure that the Congress will promote stimulating scientific discussion between and across disciplines, and will provide a broad overview on the recent advances of surgery.

The main objective of our Society is to bring together an interdisciplinary group of clinicians and scientists to share their knowledge in the fields of clinical and experimental surgery. We have created a program combining oral and poster presentations, and keynote talks, with the aim of providing the greatest possible opportunity for interaction and exchange of information. We are confident that the meeting will serve as an excellent forum to continue the dialogue between surgical practice and basic sciences - between distinguished experts and young investigators.

The organizing committee will be pleased to welcome you in the city of sunshine. Hungary - the country of Magyars - was founded near Szeged in the 9th century. Today the city is one of the scientific centers of the country, a thriving university town in a relaxing environment, a city of traditional Hungarian culture, cuisine and hospitality.

We have chosen a motto: "Szeged - Science Surgery" for the forthcoming meeting. We are sure that in 2002 Szeged and the 37th ESSR Congress will be an excellent meeting for researchers and surgeons from around the world, in a continent without scientific borders.
